Artificial Intelligence Will Never Forgive Me for Asking It to Perform Such Wonders

My instinct tells me I just completed a 38 programmer project, and I guess it would take months for them to peck at their keyboards.

It took me about three days to build up a project I called panel-api, it supports features that would take me four years of programming.

It is well structured, plugins you never have to use, if you don’t need them, the panels or title windows can be wisely pinned and snapped in a web page.

I added a bookmarklet feature, that loads the windows into an existing web page as a test, and bonus.

And just now, I asked the AI, to use the panel-api. create an XML based manifest, to keep code clean.

(And wow, please always ask for manifest.xml, in the age of AI it is how you keep your code editable, after AI is done with it)

And I said use this XML to load up miniatures, of the apps we’ve been testing: gradient-lab, texture-lab, and text-shadow

I am exaggerating - hopefully - but from some perspectives, this feels like 10 years of work.

The result of this system is a web page art editor that produces design code, that can be added to the server to make it permanent.

And the art editor places emphasis on ready made presets you easily modify, and simple sliders and drop downs with nifty scientific names that AI is good at.

I am used state of the art AI for this, the top two set at maximum effort, the AI missed padding in three places, it got visually confused.

And then, I never really specified how the resulting program, named css-workbench is actually supposed to work.

So the AI invented the concept of engines, these should probably be tools in a toolbox.

But this is shockingly close, the engine is a tool, and what it missed in UI padding, it returned a thousand fold in other details.

For example the act of loading the CSS workbench, comes with a spinning indicator and a checkbox when the loading completes.

In closing, this would take less than 10 years to program, but, AI in under an hour can add 10 years of additional engines and presets.

All of this, is unbelievable to me.

And that I can link, to complete versions of all of the programs I mentioned, should be unbelievable to you.
